Myths, legends and folktales are our inheritance. This collection of short stories, set within our modern world (or, at least, a world just beneath the surface of ours), are retellings inspired by the rich tapestry of old stories specific to the British Isles. Go back far enough here and the edges of history blur into myth and legend. Story is nestled in the roots and rocks and bones and blood of these islands. Here be dragons, giants, standing stones and howling hounds. Here be witches that are hares and seals, and women that seek their inner wildness. But though you'll find here stories that you think you know; though there are all manner of familiar beasts, creatures, old gods and ancient ideas, the stories don't always go how you think they should. These stories bridge a gap; they haunt the in-between places. Old stories woven into modern times, for modern folk just minding their business, folk who can't help but feel the tug of something deeper, something older, something creeping around the edges of the world, whispering and wild...
