Based on the Eagle Eye Cherry song "When Mermaids Cry," 'For Whom the Seagulls Fly' is a feminist fairy tale play about devotion, desertion, and desolation. Set during the Victorian era in Britain, the story both begins and ends on a rocky but otherwise barren beach. Between this desolate setting lies a tragic love story of a devoted young woman and a foolish young man. But, in the end, mistakes are repented and strength is discovered.
