If given the choice between shooting innocent civilians and dying, which would you choose?
Triton is a soldier forced to fight for the oppressive Spitnik Empire, and he has to make that choice. But just when all hope appears lost, the situation dramatically changes, and he finds himself on the other side.
The Spitniks are determined to bring Bahram, a largely desert moon of a ringed gas giant, under their rule. They seek control over a rare mineral on the world that will greatly accelerate their plans of conquests of the rest of human space.
The Bahramians are determined not to let the Spitnik have it, and Triton can help. But only if he can win their trust, and he must hurry since it is not just the freedom of the Bahramians at stake, but the freedom of all people everywhere.
