Amateur sleuth Geneva Pomolo is enjoying a perfectly ordinary, if unseasonably warm, December. The annual Christmas festival is coming up, and everyone in Wrangler's Hill is expected to attend. She and George Wilson are kindling their long-gestating relationship, and her old friend, Donna Gimble, has petitioned her to solve the mystery of who is leaving romantic books at a certain table at her ice cream shop, in an apparent attempt to woo her. But the holiday season turns tragic when the obscenely rich and miserly Dale Landon, the owner of half the strip malls in Wrangler's Hill, is found dead in the freezer of Donna's ice cream shop. Now Geneva and her best friend, Iris Reeves, must scramble to figure out who wanted him dead. The trouble is, everyone did. Their investigation reveals a myriad of suspects: a man who obsessively wrote hate mail to the murder victim... his third wife, who tried to escape the marriage but couldn't... the victim's own son, who bore a deadly grudge. As the Christmas festival approaches and the two women are closing in on the culprit, they find that the suspect is far more dangerous, and far closer, than they would like to believe...
