The mysterious asylum in Rockroot has been Shane's home for over a decade. More recently a murderous hedge-mage from Blackthorn has taken up residence. But that's not why the Hilfords scholars are visiting. The Council has come to make demands, and Mage Shane has no plan to give Fedrig what he wants. When a new problem surfaces to the north it could be just the thing to buy some time. A new threat arises on Mount Sundwark while Ezren and Van go searching for answers. Will they return in time with something useful or will the Council put an end to all mages?
