A retired detective embarks upon an ambitious mission to track down the missing members of a long lost rock band from the 70s, with view to persuading them to reunite for one big reunion concert. Can he turn his optimistic operation into a rocking success, or is it simply: mission impossible? The Lazarus Quest features a retired police detective who grows progressively bored with his reserved lifestyle and craves the action and adventure of his former career. Following a trip down memory lane via recordings of a former big influential rock band from the heyday of rock music, he decides to embark upon a project whereby he attempts to trace the former members of the band who have since disappeared into oblivion, with view to persuading them to reunite as a band and perform one last concert. Drawing upon all the skills of his three decades with CID, he systematically begins the tedious tracing and detecting of these elusive people who it seems, many would rather not be found. Facing a constant uphill struggle, the seemingly easy project will severely test the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the former detective, possibly making for one of the toughest cases of his entire career, often trying his patience and causing him to question the viability of his quest. Tony regales stories of his past and shares many anecdotes of his former life, which help him through the tedium of his momentous mission. His slow and painstaking progress involves locating and piecing together clue fragments, and he travels far and wide in his quest to meet each man - from a remote Scottish island to an Australian city. Only then he finds his mission is far from over as, the next problem is trying to convince the aging musicians to reunite after nearly four decades of inactivity and radically changed lifestyles. The opportunity to reform causes the band members to question the sanity of the former police detective and dismiss the reunion as a far-fetched dream.
