Lydia Myers has asked for a divorce and flees to the family cabin in upstate New York as her husband launches a campaign to leave her homeless and penniless. She befriends a host of homeless characters who help her along the way to regaining her footing, one of whom, an undercover reporter, uses her story to expose her husband's nefarious legal doings. Lydia's challenge now is to survive and escape her husband's mad attempts to punish her and end her life. Even as Lydia assumes her maiden name, O'Connor, and frees herself from her husband's tyranny, she discovers that freedom has its price, love and romance have not escaped her, and she can continue to rewrite the script of her life in her favorite city, Paris.
