Aulacogens of North America II is the second of a two book series presenting the aulacogens of the United States that failed to develop during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic Erathems. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to rift and transtensional basins including intracratonic aulacogens. The chapter presents Cenozoic and Mesozoic Era Basin and Aulacogens identified by the USGS. Chapter 2 begins the detailed descriptions of Mesozoic aulacogens which include the Connecticut River Valley's Hartford Basin, The Newark Basin, Eastern North American Rift System, and the South Georgia Rift. Chapter 3 presents aulacogens, discussing the Great Basin, the Rio Grande Rift which includes the Albuquerque Basin and Quaternary extension of the rift. Chapter 4 presents the Yellowstone Hotspot Theory and its relations to the Columbia River Plateau and the Nevada-Oregon Rift Zone. Aualacogens of North America I is the first book of the series which presents the Proterozoic and Paleozoic failed rift systems .
