As you might have imagined from Book Six, Myra is bent on getting into and out of specific, hopeful dreams and troubles--an exciting reception greets our adventurer back in the Southlands upon returning for one last dance in the Emerald City. This is the Emerald City Storybook, which Myra Doom considers her best. It starts quietly enough with a baby patrol job where she plans a big trip into Emerald City with a set of cousins in a stolen car. Three free spirits and a pocket mouse out on a dark road, moving faster and faster to the beat of the Hatful of Hollow album roaring out to the Southlands on the old highway and back hill roads where there are no cops or guardians. Suddenly, a mighty whirlwind of glass and metal fly our narrater into near death. What follows is a whole lot of restoration: body and soul. Myra manages to find a way out of the woods while the cousins are catatonic and the tiniest passenger--a mouse called Mavis--are miraculously kept safe. (To this day, Myra believes that the ghosts of the highway's dead preserve them that night whenever it all went down) It is time for a switch-up. Too many sad tales fill the pages of this journal. Myra leaves the high school behind and seeks emancipation, at last, seeking a way out of the drug-induced terrors she has realized the past few years. For sensitive readers, this brews a hard crash and comes with a warning.
