Of course, I risked letting my 19-year-old daughter go so far alone. But fate was merciful to us. Dasha got into a good family, where she was surrounded by love and care. I remained in Ukraine so far, but it was only my physical shell. My soul was there, next to my daughter, in those distant lands. It has become almost my everyday ritual. Before falling asleep, I mentally traveled across the ocean; I tried to imagine the place where my daughter now lived, talked to her, hugged her, and fell asleep.
