Hail to the reader! The Havamal is a collection of verses composed of life advice, proper conduct and wisdom provided by the Allfather. The Havamal is one of my all time personal favorite texts. I created this book with the intention of providing an English and a Younger Futhark version of all the verses. Then I came to the realization that the true Younger Futhark was not meant to compliment such modern languages like English. Translating English into basic Younger Futhark is no problem. On the other hand, translating Younger Futhark into English is a pretty complicated challenge. This is because a single Younger Futhark character can represent four English letters. So I had to come up with a solution. I created the Vinland Younger Futhark runic alphabet. Creating a Younger Futhark alphabet to represent the English language was an inevitable outcome. The Vinland Younger Futhark is composed of all the original Younger Futhark characters. The Vinland Younger Futhark just fills in the gaps by slightly modifying the Younger Futhark characters to represent each English letter it already represented to begin with.
