The Light and Shade of Ellen Swithin Ellen Swithin, is a skilled actuary in an accounting firm, a dutiful daughter of a labourer and a nurse, an owner of two properties and a latent serial killer. Murder although often by design is sometimes by accident. For Ellen, it started with a miscreant laptop case. Ellen had not set out to kill anyone, not in the first instance, anyway. After all, Noah Dempsey was a heinous bully and sexual predator. Comeuppance was arguably overdue. However, after what seemed an isolated aberration, Ellen became the subject of blackmail by senior executive Vivianna Christy. Ms Christy needs a date for a dinner invitation and a macabre party favour. Vivianna sought Ellen's romantic companionship as one that would conveniently fit the bill for both requirements. Initially, Ellen enjoys the rush of falling in love again, having hitherto carefully eschewed romance. However, Ellen is also killing again, and again and, yet again, frankly; which could be seen as marring the foundation of any stable relationship. What's more it seems, Ellen does not always regret erasing certain individuals. However, Ellen soon understands that while the path of love rarely runs smoothly, it should never lead to prison. Ellen ensures herself a blameless ending by convincing the authorities of Vivianna's culpability. Finally establishing that at least for Ellen Swithin it is entirely possible to get away with murder. Dark in comedy twisted in its romance but with a very good ending for a very bad girl.
