Samantha Baker is a ten year old girl, the youngest survivor in Charlies camp. She loves to sing and to draw unicorns. But that is a thing of the past, because Samantha Baker is missing. She has been taken during the night and her father, Fred Baker claims to know who has done it and where they have taken her. Charlie isn't sure he believes Fred's story. Something about the whole affair feels off to him. What is being sold as a kidnapping feels, to him, like something much more sinister. The more questions he finds himself unable to answer makes him more certain that Fred Baker can't be trusted. He knows he needs to save Samantha, if she's in danger, but is she? Veronica tells him to let others handle this problem. After the botched field trip that He, Jane and Shawn took, Veronica is scared for Charlie to go down to the ground. Something Charlie can't stop doing, and something that Veronica has told him will end their relationship if he chooses to do so this time. Is this real? If it is, can they catch the kidnappers before they deliver Samantha to the Black Queen of Johnson City? There is too many unknowns for Charlie, and he knows that he has to figure out what is really going on if he hopes to keep his people, himself, and Samantha Baker a good distance from dying.
