When you want to write the story of a life, where do you start? At the beginning? When Max Carter, a British expat living in Brussels, is asked to write an article about his life at first he wasn't sure. What could he write? He was no-one special. He hadn't really done anything. There were no great achievements or prizes. He was just an ordinary guy. The more he thought back though his life he realised that there was a story to tell, but it was not his. He had been there, he had witnessed it, and he was the only person who would tell it. But where to start? At the beginning?
