American Dust Plumes Phillip Courtney Curliss
American Dust Plumes
Phillip Courtney Curliss
These poems were written directly after the 11 September 2001 Manhattan attacks on the World Trade Centres, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 and the subsequent effects of the media storm that followed as America and her allies searched for answers as to who and how these events came to pass; the pursuit of Al-Qaeda and the so-called mastermind behind the attacks, Osama Bin Laden. Like the majority of the population, we found ourselves transfixed to televisions, computers, newspapers, radio stations, and any media factions that kept the information rolling in, as overhead airplanes and jets returned to their scheduled flights, yet the engines seemed louder, closer, and more formidable than ever before - our attentions more focused, more stressed.... and carried with it the fear and paranoia of a whole nation.
