Good fortune seemed to smile on the Morning Star, being at the right place at the right time and finding helmsman Kenji Hiroshu's brother Sata scheduler for a very lucrative, easy job. Things are not always how they first appear, though. Bored, their computer specialist breaks into the programming to look at the cargo of chips, discovering, to his horror, them looking back at him. As the crew watches, the entity they carry invades the ship with unknown intentions, revealing itself to be advanced far beyond human levels. Wanting just to be free they plan for a short turn around and departure. The Beast has other plans, however, and in a frantic move only the captain with limited crew and children escape. Now faced with superior intelligence, they pit their wit and experience against it to try to both free their fellow crew members and to free them from the grasp of The Beast.
