Slammed: Poems from the Black Box. A LaLa Land Press Poetry Book - by Gabriel Arriaga, William Martin-Arriaga, Airam Noyola, Zoe Martin-Arriaga, Faith, Nancy, Alondra, Members of the Top Hat Theatre Company put this collection of their original poetry together to showcase their talent and innerselves. This experience gave everyone a chance to get in touch with themselves and open up to the people around them. The process definitely had tears. No blood, though. Hopefully. This is Me: Poems from the Black Box, Volume 1 takes you on a journey through the minds of adolescents finding themselves in poetry. This anthology started off as an experiment of sorts to see where these students would go when introduced to slam poetry. In it, we found the pain and beauty of being young in this society. We have seen these students evolve into the people before you on the page. The book was released during a Poetry Slam where the students performed their poetry to their community in South Texas at Juarez-Lincoln High School in La Joya ISD. We hope you enjoy the powerful experience of getting lost in this book just as much as we enjoyed delivering it.
