A year after the US economy collapsed, terrorists launch simultaneous attacks that hit the country at its most vulnerable points, ruining any chance of a quick recovery. At the same time, they release a bio-engineered disease that decimates what is left of the population. As the people of Kanichi Springs work to survive, strangers bring a multitude of problems to the town. Friendships are tested, romances are kindled, and nerves become frayed after someone abducts young children in the area. The town elects new leaders and those leaders must solve several serious issues that arise. Each new crisis presents a new set of challenges to overcome as the friends struggle together to stay alive.
