Young Jessie Farrell is always being left behind. When she gets lost in a corn maze on Halloween Eve, she is befriended by a Unicorn named Gus who takes her on an adventure to meet the Spirit Bear who guards the pumpkin patch from a pumpkin stealing rat. This is the first in a series of short bedtime stories about Jessie and Gus, son of the Unicorn King.
This story is written in an easy to read play type of format. Pair the print or ebook with the audio book for a fun way for kids to learn to read using the phonetic system. The tale of Jessie and Gus was a favorite of the kids during the author's school readings. One class of eight year-olds asked if they could participate in the reading. The kids had a blast reading their parts out to the class and got quite into the characters, hence the format.
