Word Count: Almost 30,000This series of books contain enjoyable stories about high school life that help the reader to identify and deal with bullying behavior in a high school setting. The books in this series are intended to be safe reading for teens and tweens. A high school student, Drew, has been the victim of both physical and verbal bullying from other students throughout his freshman year of high school. Several weeks into his sophomore year, Drew is expecting a repeat of freshman year. Drew eats lunch alone, has no friends and few students remember hearing his voice. Drew's problems are exacerbated by his behavior. No matter what the weather, hot or cold, Drew wears multiple layers of clothes including long pants, coat and hood. None of his classmates remember ever seeing Drew's face. With the bulky clothes and hiding, students assume he is overweight, shy or has acne problems. The teachers do not push Drew to talk or participate in class because of his apparent shyness and they take some solace in the fact that Drew maintains a high grade-point average. Bullies look for the weakness or something that sets someone apart from others. Anything unusual can draw the attention of a bully. High school is an environment ripe with opportunity for bullies. As children grow up body changes lead to physical changes and hygiene requirements. Big kids and little kids, athletes and nerds, heritage or specialized interests which may be unusual can all result in a student being isolated or identified as a victim of opportunity for a bully. In this story, an accident will throw Drew together with Lacy, a girl in his class who will inadvertently learn his secrets. It turns out that Drew has a physical problem associated with gynecomastia that led to his isolation. He not only has problems at school but also has problems at home. Like many teenagers, his parents seem out of touch and uninterested in his day to day life. They don't see things that are right in front of them. Due to this, Drew feels abandoned. Using good methods, Lacy and Drew will team up to deal with bullying and find a path out of the shadows for Drew. Thank you for reading onDaring DianeDisclaimerThis story is a work of fiction.
