A relative afforded him the opportunity to clean himself up, and eventually took advantage of the government's giving first preference to veterans. He was doing good. But the current president made no secret of his white-supremacist leanings. And his beliefs filtered down into the rank-and-file of federal government employees, eventually resulting in those of like mind set on purging Washington DC government of a workforce it perceived as majority black.
