Waking from a confusing nightmare, the young hunter Mneme sets out on a quest towards an uncertain future. Bound by prophesy to stay alone in a mythical forest for all of her life, she yearns to one day venture out and explore the medieval wasteland that is her world, to answer an unending stream of questions that bombard her mind. When her sole friend Zdzislaw brings her fatal news about a close relative, she is drawn into an ancient conflict she had long sought to avoid. Her curiosity about the war's historic roots leads her to a string of discoveries that begin to point back to her own foggy origins that she seems to have forgotten. When she dares to stray away from destiny, Mneme encounters morality for the first time and finds herself caught up in a desperate search for the truth as her worried dreams build into an impending doom.
