For The Love of Musiq" is a memoir of a young woman who survived living in the foster care system and group homes of New York City with the help of music. It's because of her love of music that she has been able to dispel the myths that surround children that are raised "in the system! Abandoned, abused, and afflicted, Ty Powell was born to a single mother who was tragically taken away from her at a young age. Ty had to endure the unthinkable as a child. From surviving sexual abuse at the hands of her foster brother to overcoming life in the foster system. Music was and has been her only friend, consoling her when she was watching a heroin addicted grandmother shoot up, making her dance when she was happy, and feeding her with every peck of the piano key and beat of the drum.
