Lively Elizabeth and shy Marianne are identical twins who have always done everything together. So they are dismayed to learn that they won't be presented to society together for the London Season. There's only enough money to bring out one sister so Marianne, the elder by twenty minutes, will have a London season while Elizabeth spends the summer in the bucolic country village of Piddledean. But the twins have a plan of their own. Once a week, the girls will switch places: Elizabeth will play Marianne in London, while Marianne plays Elizabeth in the village. That way each sister will get to sample the delights of London... and perhaps find an eligible match. What could possibly go wrong? But it turns out that in matters of the heart, the girls have very different ideas about what makes a man a desirable husband.
