Cruel Road William J Fisher
Cruel Road
William J Fisher
John Fraser, Scots-Irish gunsmith and militiaman, faces a difficult dilemma when his new and pregnant wife is taken captive by a local tribal chief. Will he be able to find her and return her to safety? If she is gone too long, will he remarry? Cruel Road is a mid-Eighteenth Century historical drama. It is the story of real-life John and Jane Fraser, among the first settlers of western Pennsylvania, as their lives are challenged by Indian conflicts, French and English fighting over territory, and survival in the Pennsylvania wilderness. It is also the story of the end of French influence in the New World and the beginning of the end for most of the Indian tribes for control over the land and their destiny. The book is a dramatization of true events. Most characters are actual historical characters, such as young George Washington and John and Jane Fraser, who are the author's direct ancestors. Some characters are fictional, and some actions and descriptions are conjecture.
