While playing errand-girl for the vampires of Zuhire is nothing new for twenty-five year-old human Stefani Lancaster, her week has been anything but mundane; her unstable werewolf sister has arrived for an unexpected visit and is once again pressuring Stefani to rejoin her family, she narrowly manages to escape a police raid, ending up short a few pints of blood for her trouble, and one of her friends is outed as a snitch. Now forced to protect a witch as a favor to Queen Hellen, ruler of Zuhire's vampires, Stefani is at the end of her wits, woefully lacking any kind of experience, and being hunted by unknown enemies. Unable to get any assistance from the vampires and with her sister missing, Stefani must soldier on alone, as failure could cost far more than her life.
