My Husband's Mistress
Resh Sing
The story is about a man having an affair and how it impacts on the lives of so many people. How his affair affects his wife, children, mistress and himself. The destruction the affair causes to himself and his family. Pauls life revolves around being with his mistress. He could never hold down a job long enough to provide properly for his family because he spent most of his days and nights with her. He abused his wife just so he could find another reason to go to his mistress. Did he always go to her because of her emotional black mail, guilt or was he obssessed with her? Rose was a strong woman who stuck and stayed in her marriage, not being able to leave Paul because of lack of education and work history as well as divorce being against society's norms not forgetting her unconditional love for him. So she lived with the hope of him changing and becoming a good husband and father. Sally, the mistress, cared for nothing and no-one except making sure she got what she wanted. She would do anything and everything just to get Paul all for herself only. The novel reiterates anger, disappointment, disillusionment, betrayal, happiness, and hope.
