Since the beginning of life on earth there have been two distinct systems of education. One based on learning in relationship, the other based on self-sufficiency and independence. The Hebraic way seems difficult and expensive; it requires time and love. The Greek way offers efficiency, speed and ease. Like the insidious "gift" of the Trojan Horse, the Greek way of thinking and learning has crept its way not only into our schools and businesses, but into the Christian church! I believe that history has borne out that doing what seemed easy has had profound and lasting consequences; one of the worst of which has left our world with a shortage of leaders and mentors. As we explore the differences between these two educational systems, I believe you will see that there are some simple solutions to the complex problems we face today. Complex problems may have simple solutions, but it doesn't make them easy; especially when the problem is centuries old. As always, God has a way that may seem foolish to some, but is always.... A most excellent way!
