Life is a mystery and there are no facts only opinions to inform us of life's journey, how it will end, and what comes next. These realities are addressed by a teenage girl when a beloved cousin renounces God following the shocking death of a family dog. One night, while searching for answers in her father's library, Melia dreams a dream that is not all dream. Thus begins a magical journey with her little dog, Schnapsie, from their home in Orion Kansas to a succession of welcoming stars on the back of the great white-winged horse, Pegasas. With Dante as her guide Melia sees for herself the ways of God as taught to her by notable immortals including Virgil, Newton, Aristotle, Galileo, Darwin, Descartes, Euripides, da Vinci, among others. Along the way, she is introduced to immortal family members, beginning with her earliest literate ancestors and ending with bygone pets. When she awakens the next morning she finds a leather bound notebook on her bedroom bureau that confirms every detail of her overnight trip. With unfailing confidence, she sets off to reassure her cousin that everything will be alright. Melia in Foreverland is a hopeful story about a timeless subject: the story of man's longing for the truth; of his migration from one world to another where goodness lives on; of his assimilation into a true life perfected by death; and of his reunion with all things that are dear to him.
