That is the message Cindy Felkel has for people who have lived through trauma, abuse, and struggles. They are not victims. They are survivors - and they have a special place in God's heart.

This is not your typical Christian book about the Bible. Cindy is brutally and comically honest about her own struggles with being a Christian. She shares compelling stories from twenty years of working with homeless people, migrant workers, "at-risk" youth, strippers, and other survivors. She relates these stories to the survivors Jesus embraced in the book of Luke.

Rum and Cola for the Survivor's Soul encourages survivors to rest in God's love and acceptance of them. It also encourages believers to be better at modeling this love. About the authorCindy Felkel worked in education for many years before pursuing her writing career. She is passionate about sharing people's stories, accurately representing Jesus, and being honest about her own struggles. Her training as an English teacher prepared her to deeply study the context, culture, style, and themes of the Bible for thorough understanding. Her work in education, as well as her volunteering, opened her eyes to the disconnect between American church culture and the world that many survivors live in. Cindy lives in Connecticut with her husband, where she writes and produces podcasts and blogs about incredible survivors and God's heart for us all.
