Ordinary. That would have been sixteen year old Sonia Kazmierski's answer, if you asked her to describe her life in one word. She was the middle child of five children. She had two sisters, one older and one younger: two brothers, one older and one younger. Her parents worked hard to keep them all fed and clothed, and they lived in an ordinary home in an ordinary neighborhood. Yes, I think you would agree that her life was ordinary, of course, until it wasn't. The 1960's, 70's, and 80's represent a time of change in America. Technology was moving forward at warp speed, changing our views of the world, the way we communicate, and our expectations of the future. For the first time in history, we were involved in a war that was transported to our television sets every night. It was a new awakening. But, if you lived in small town America, things changed very little. People there still held on to their values and beliefs. If you were a teenage girl growing up in a small town, you knew there was one thing that was un-forgivable. A pregnancy out of wedlock. So what did a "good" girl do when she found herself in that position?
