Sammy and The Coonhound Budly McBarker
Sammy and The Coonhound
Budly McBarker
Sammy, going on age 13, is heading into his teenage years and is uncertain of who he is and what he needs to do to prepare for future responsibilities. His parents sit down with him and talk about his interests. As they converse, it becomes apparent that Sammy, as an only child, living in the country is lonely and not confident in his own abilities. He works, doing chores around the property, but the chores are routine, and don't excite him. They discuss that a dog to train and care for as he grows older will give Sammy more self confidence and responsibility for something besides himself. With reasonable effort on his part, he will have a lifelong loyal skilled friend. They decide to go to P. A. W. S. to see about adopting a coon hound and see if Sammy and his hound could work the Tree Walker Coonhound program independently.
