For horse people, it starts on day one, and lasts a lifetime. Around a horse, knowledge makes your life better. The wonderful thing about horse people is that they are willing to share their knowledge. Out of gratitude for the people who have helped me along the way, I have written this book, to pass the knowledge on to younger generations and the future generations. They taught me about rule one, safety, and then caring and honoring the horse - the most noble beast on the planet. A horse gives and gives, and asks only for food, water and kindness. For horse people, the need to have contact with a horse is a passion. A time to learn and a time to teach. I want to say something about the most important thing in the world: our kids. If you are a parent who is thinking about getting a horse for your child, don't do it until you have read my chapter on first time horse buyers for a child. Most lessons in life are learned through trial and error. When it comes to your children and a horse, trial and error is not good enough. What I want you to do, is learn from other people's mistakes. In this situation, it is important to know what to do; but more important to know what not to do. Having a horse should be like going to see your best friend every day. If you make the right choices, that's what it will be.
