On a trip to New York, Chicago businessman, Harry Schuyler, comes across a real estate ad for a robber baron's family estate. Pictures of 'The Livingston Estate' include a romantic Cotswold cottage which triggers all the pain and unresolved conflict of a dark secret Harry has kept buried since his beautiful wife, Nina, was murdered fifteen years ago. The discovery leads Harry on a manic, guilt-ridden trip to the small town of Walker in the Hudson River Valley to find what answers the cottage might hold. It is a mystifying, overpowering sense of dread that occupies Harry as he makes his way north. News of Harry's interest in the property travels fast and Livingston family heirs start to descend on Walker in the hope of settling the estate. Two psychopathic brothers and their seductive, vengeful sister, all tortured by their own secrets, are determined to claim one of America's great fortunes at any cost. And just as they arrive, a violent Nor'easter hits and they are all forced to shelter together in the infamous Beau Bren's White Horse Inn along with all the colorful citizens of Walker. As the noir mystery unfolds and each twisted character's secrets and motivations are revealed, the search for the truth about Nina becomes a dangerous game for everyone in Walker, especially Harry.
