These are poems of saints, patriarchs, and dragon slayers, rendered in rhyme and rhythm, drawing on Scripture, Catholic Tradition, myth and imagination. Included is the poem "Shiphrah and Puah", which tells the story of the great pro-life heroines of Exodus. "Saint Brendan" looks at the famous journey of the Irish monk as a celebration of science and faith, vocation, wonder, and all who dare to dream. "The Ones Who Went Before" considers courage through a tale of dragon slayers, and "On a Far and Distant Shore" uses a confrontation between man and dragon to parse modern mythologies. There are Christmas poems, such as "Saint Joseph Journeyed All the Way" and "The Royal Christmas Hall", to bring us to the manger on that miraculous morning. The book contains 21 poems in all, along with historical notes and images.
