Tears from Within
Giftus Nkam Ntambo
Ntambo's nationalist verses lament the condition in which the Anglophone Cameroonian community finds itself today. The Anglophone 'body' is not quite in the Napoleonic inspired constitutional politics nor the social order that French colonial administration bequeathed to the ruling elites of Cameroon; at the same time, it is not, and cannot be out of it. This ambivalent nationalistic situation, a political cul-de-sac, has produced an intensive social pain artistically represented in the imagery of a 'cry' with streams of 'Tears from Within [the body]'. Nkam's radicalist discourse portrays an Anglophone community of a people that is disgraced but determined, weakened but also motivated by multivalent signs for and against the de-territorialisation of this nation state.
