Why Memere, Why? is a story about a Mexican Hairless dog living in Vermont who is bullied because of her differences. Her name is Xola Lola, she is teased, then ignored at a local puppy park because she doesn't look like the other pups who are playing there. Her Memere (which means Grandmother in French) helps Xola Lola to turn this hurtful experience around by changing the perception of the word different! At the end, Xola Lola learns to embrace her differences......which make her "Unique."
