The best contests are the ones where team effort wins. There's a race afoot! Each Thanksgiving the Blom family begin their holidays with seeing what new model building or figurine Cathy has added to her Christmas village. They all gather around while one of the family places Santa Claus into a castle atop the village in Santa's Wonderland. Thus opens the new Christmas holiday. This year Cathy has promised her little sister Janice the privilege if she gets up early on Thanksgiving morning. Early to bed, early to rise, Janice heads off to bed only to discover the sandman has paid her a visit. He informs her the task at hand is not all that simple. She must get to Santa's Wonderland before her sister; and all her friends. And, like so many lessons Janice is learning in life, the straightest path to Wonderland is along crooked roads. The latest in the Cathy and Janice Bedtime Stories, the second Christmas story, deals with the nature of growing up in a world that has no straight roads, often seems unreal and has many distractions.
