Convicted for a crime he did not commit, Frank Pascoe goes back to Ohio to find that his wife has remarried. He plans to head west for a new start, but the past keeps catching up to him. Whether by a young man, Shelby Sinclair, who believes he is Jack Davis one of the outlaws who robbed the Union Pacific, or by J. J. White who is convinced Frank knows where the loot is. At first, Nancy and Frank come together for mutual convenience in traveling, Nancy for protection for herself and her girls, and Frank, to throw off the posse that is deadset on the reward for his capture.
