Winter has descended on the land of the Cathars, sealing the few garrisons resisting Simon de Montfort's crusaders in their lonely hilltop fortresses. Their only hope of relief is from the Aragon King Peter and Raymond of Toulouse, should they renounce their neutrality and ally themselves to the Cathar cause. Etienne, Alonso, Rodolpho and Jacques de Massigny are among those hoping for reinforcements before the Cathar cause is crushed by the church.
