For decades men have been deemed the dominating gender for leadership roles in the church. However, the masculine image of ministerial leadership has been evolving as more women enter the profession. The increased presence of female leadership is being felt not only in the mainstream church experience but also in academic settings. "Patriarchy and Inequality" explores the barriers that women clergy encounter in ministry within the Church and obstacles they face in their regular interactions with both the local congregation and the ecclesiastical leadership under which they serve. Dr. Cole has specifically addressed how members of different church congregations and ecclesiastical leadership can learn to respond appropriately to clergywomen's voices in the 21st century.
