After college she completed a Master's degree in Business Management before earning a Doctorate of Medicine from East Tennessee State University and a graduate certificate in Clinical Research from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She completed her medical residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as her fellowship in Forensic Pathology, in Chicago, Illinois.
