But when Jack Pennington hears a tall tale about a rogue sea turtle that can run faster than a man on land, and spots a mysterious old fisherman hand his teacher a fossilized turtle beak from a secret beach, he'll stop at nothing to solve the mystery.

Jack and his friends Malia, Max, Keoni, and Kenji follow the old man around the little town to no avail. The next day Jack and Malia travel out to the sea cliffs to try to find the mutant sea turtle that can run.
