This novel is based on a true story of a young boy who desired to follow after his parents' entrepreneurial endeavors as he admires their hard work building the family business. Although his parents played a pivotal role in the community, there was no escaping the challenges that he would soon experience. He was forced to witness horrific acts of crime and violence, not understanding why he would become a target at such a young age. At the age of 12 he became a victim of an attack that left him paralyzed. Although he would experience a miraculous recovery, many years later as a young adult, he would succumb to the temptations of the streets.
