For Those That Find Themselves in Darkness is a poetry collection that explores the complexities of being black and woman. Three: divinity; completion. In three sections, this collection navigates the journey of becoming a complete, divine woman in the midst of darkness. Genesis: Foundation Wilderness: Darkness Promised Land: Healing I tried to run from darkness, the bruises, blood and broken bones are evidence. I tried to ignore my darkness, but unresolved trauma is messy and selfish, with inept timing. I sat with my darkness, asked if it preferred coffee or tea, for the morning is always coming. I no longer fear my darkness, because I was never meant for it's consumption.
