It's been four months since Tabitha Nix entered The Attrition, a murderous test to weed out the strong from the weak. Tabitha was forced to kill her fellow Graduates in order to survive. Even though her world seemed to have settled down for a moment after The Attrition, she had a decision to make: side with President Dallas and keep her family safe or rebel and endanger the lives of everyone she loves.

Haunted by her memories and the bloodshed, Tabitha chooses to join the Resistance, an insurgent group she thought was planning to take down the President and end The Attrition, once and for all. President Dallas learns of her plans and threatens her with a memory wiping machine called Instinct, with which he plans to transform her into a mindless soldier, willing to kill anyone he commands her to.

Tabitha is rocked by secrets and lies, unsure of what to believe anymore. Soon realizing the Resistance nor President Dallas are who they seem to be, Tabitha takes matters into her own hands and joins together a group of allies with a common goal-shutting down Fidelity and the Resistance...no matter the consequences.
