TRAVELING with GRANDMA to AMSTERDAM Jody Brady

Grandma takes the children to Amsterdam, a city in The Netherlands. There are pictures on every page. They learn why the proper name is The Netherlands and not Holland. Holland is part of The Netherlands. Amsterdam is the capital of the country and is in North Holland. We also learn why people wear Orange and ride bicycles most of the time. Orange is for the man that freed the country from the Spanish and they ride bikes because it is a small, flat city and its easier to get around. It's fun to learn that people once used Tulip Bulbs as money and some live in boats on the canals. There are canals everywhere, so they take a boat tour. Art is very important in the city and some of the best and most famous painters lived there - Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh. There are wonderful Museums. The kids and their parents learn a lot reading the book, including the fact that the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) in the Caribbean are part of The Netherlands. It's a fun way to learn about an interesting and historic city and country.
