"Unmasking the Real Me" details the early years of Nakeeta J. McNeil and is intended to encourage others that it doesn't matter where they come from, but rather, where they get to and what they ultimately do with that opportunity. The message is that people's past should not determine their present or their future. This took time for McNeil to understand, and her story traces this evolution.




The author's rise from humble means in rural Jamaica further taught her that if you position your mind for change and allow God to be the captain of your ship, the driver of your car and the pilot of your plane, the sky is no limit for you. She advocates that it is important to be a winner in your mind, as much as you are a winner in your heart. Fear will always try to stop you from moving forward, but if you can push past fear and kick doubt to the curb, then accomplishing and progressing will be your new norm. Believe in yourself, encourage yourself, and surround yourself only with individuals who can push you, not pull down. Life is what you make it, so if you put in the work, then you will receive the fruit of the harvest. And always remember to hold yourself accountable for your own actions because your biggest enemy is you sometimes.
