During the COVID-19 Pandemic shelter-in-place, Nova reflects on the strange events occurring. She is bored with staying inside and misses her friends and loved ones. Her mother challenges her to make the most of her time by making a list of goals she would like to accomplish. Nova accepts the challenge and decides to have fun by doing random crazy things. Her mother encourages her to add goals to the list to help herself and others while considering people less fortunate than her. As a result, Nova is motivated to help others by performing acts of kindness and generosity.

I Did It In 2020 seeks to inspire the readers to appreciate the positive things they accomplished during the pandemic and other challenging times. Although Nova's mother initiates the challenge and makes suggestions, it is Nova that comes up with fun ways to beat boredom and at the same time bring love and positivity to her community. Accomplishing these tasks makes Nova proud. She learns a lot about herself, and she is inspired to take her goals beyond the list!
