Dr Simi shares the raw, harrowing and emotional story of the devastating impact that family breakdown and grief had on her life growing up and the power that love, mentorship and belief from significant adults had in her recovery and growth.



When she was 15 yrs old, Dr Simi, the last child of four, returned from school to find that her family had broken down. Initially, she thought her life was over, but she met Dr George, who became her rock. In this very intimate book, Dr Simi shares her deeply personal story. As well as sharing the breakdown of an exceptional relationship with her father, she also shares the traumatic loss of Dr George, which sent her into the depths of turmoil and depression. Through it all, she worked hard to not only stay focused but to attain more than she ever thought possible. We all deal with pain, and Dr Simi hopes to give hope to others by revealing her personal experience. Sharing the lessons she has learned will help us pull ourselves back from the brink and thrive.
